san diego gives us one of the greatest line-ups/defenses in mlb history

prior to the '81 season the padres DO NOT let future hall of fame outfielder dave winfield leave as a free agent but instead decides to pay the man

prior to the '82 season the padres DO NOT trade away future hall of fame short stop ozzie smith but instead decides to pay the man

they then join future hall of fame outfielder tony gwynn and future hall of fame 2nd baseman roberto alomar (yes, the padres also DO NOT trade him away either but instead they pay the man) and give the people of southern california (and the rest of america) something AMAZING to experience
